Pattern review Atenas Jacket- Itch to Stitch

Pattern Review-Atenas Jacket by Itch to Stitch

When this pattern was released I wanted to make it !

It wasn't on my list but would fit into my Autumn Capsule perfectly and who wouldn't want this all year round jacket.

I used our Stretch Denim

This pattern comes in sizes 00-20 (US) and with Cup Sizes A, B, C, D & DD

This was a main reason for choosing this, My Chest measurement is 40" but all in the front and often in order to be able to fasten the front I am left with loads of fabric in the back....So cup sizing in a pattern is a Big Thumbs up !!!!

Decided on a 10 C cup..by following the sizing guide, with no other alterations (Hallelujah)

Lots of pieces,

resolved to this being a Slow Sew  I am an impatient sewist wanting to get things finished. My list of potential projects is very long! but I have been admiring other people on Instagram that have lovely results from more complex pieces. My idea was to have this running in the background while doing quicker sews. But once It started to go together I enjoyed it too much.

If you are planning this Jacket I found 1-2 hour bursts, with all that top stitching, worked a treat. Once the front is finished your're half way through

Topstitching the under sleeves, trust the instructions It works just take it slowly...

Note; Jeans buttons may have a 'right way round' lucky for me Husband got involved when I grabbed a hammer and disappeared into the Sewing Room, his attention to detail meant they are all facing the same way..X

VERDICT    highly recommend

 Sizing is spot on

Instructions are easy to follow and concise with help on website.

Skills Welt pockets ( these can be left out)

Topstitching..(comfortable with this as there is lots of it)

Buttonholes.. ( lots of machines have auto buttonholes, practice on scraps)

How could you improve it... maybe Hong Kong seams

Planning another one for Spring in a cotton twill !
